Illinois Valley Waste Services took over operation of the Princeton
Transfer Station at 101
Peggy Lane in January of 2004. To get to the Transfer Station take
Backbone Rd west of Princeton 1.25 miles and turn left on Epperson Lane
which is just past the ABI Alfalfa building. Cross the tracks and turn
left on Peggy Lane.
Individuals may
take their household waste, remodeling or construction debris to the
Princeton Transfer Station for disposal. The rate is $ .02 per pound
($40 per ton) with a minimum charge of $1.00.
The Transfer Station hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Friday
and 7:00 a.m. – noon on Saturday.
Loads that are hauled into the Transfer Station must be
tarped per the City of Princeton’s requirements. Garbage and debris that
is taken to the Transfer Station is reloaded into semi’s daily and taken
to a landfill for disposal.

What may not be
disposed of at the Transfer Station
Most types of household refuse and construction debris
can be dumped at the Transfer Station with the exception of the
following types of items;
The Transfer Station cannot accept hazardous wastes such as petroleum
products, liquid paints, acids, batteries, poisons, weed killers,
insecticides, etc. Loads containing asbestos cannot be accepted at the
Transfer Station. White goods (appliances) may not be placed in
landfills. A metal scrapping yard is located one mile from the Transfer
Station where you may dispose of metal items. Call our office for phone
numbers of metal scrappers. Tires and batteries are also not accepted at
the Transfer Station.
Yard waste including branches, grass clippings and leaves cannot be
accepted.
Yard waste cannot be mixed with household garbage.
We are unable to remove oil from food preparation or motor vehicles.
