Illinois Valley Waste Services is a leading provider of solid waste
services including collection, transfer, disposal, landfill and
recycling. Illinois Valley Waste Services was founded in May 1994 and today has
become one of the largest solid waste service companies in Illinois.
Services provided include:
· Collection of residential waste
· Transportation of commercial and industrial waste to transfer station
· Disposal or recycling venue separation and recycling of certain waste
streams
· Final disposal of waste via landfill or incineration
Collection is the main component in the solid waste
industry. Residential, commercial and industrial collection makes up the
majority of Illinois Valley Waste Service's revenue. Collection operations across
Illinois will meet your waste disposal needs.
It's not always feasible to transport solid waste
directly to a landfill. In these types of situations, transfer stations
are used to accept waste from collection vehicles, load it into large
trailers, and ship to the final disposal destination. These transfer
facilities are a means for us to internalize volumes collected and
economically transport the waste to landfills.
Illinois Valley Waste Services is determined to become the
leader in finding alternative destinations for waste other than landfill
sites. Just about all material that comes into a yard can be recycled.
We sort waste into valuable recoverable materials. Our recycling
services include collection from municipal, commercial, industrial and
residential customers. Our disposal facilities are designed and operated to meet
government regulations, and they utilize the most cost effective and
environmentally safe methods used within our industry.

History
Illinois Valley Waste Services, which was formerly
Dean's Disposal, has a long history of providing quality customer
care, beginning in 1950. Laverne Schmitt set up the company as a hauling
service, moving freight and packages from the train station to downtown
businesses. After they delivered the freight, they removed cardboard and
boxes, which gave them the start in the waste hauling business.
Laverne’s son Steve started working with his father before he was old
enough to drive. He now has over 30 years experience and is the
company’s General Manager. Laverne and Steve sold the business to The
William Charles Waste Companies of Rockford in October 1999.
The William Charles Waste Companies is comprised of
several locally operated businesses including Northern Illinois Disposal
of Amboy, Gill’s Freeport Disposal, Marengo Disposal and Rock River
Disposal of Rockford. They also own the Rochelle landfill, Rock River
Valley Compost, Winnebago Reclamation and waste transfer stations. They
provide waste removal services for the City of Rockford and many other
communities in northern Illinois.
Although The William Charles Waste Companies is a
large, diversified company, the transition with the purchase of Dean’s
was seamless to our customers. Local operations continued as before. The
benefit of the merger with the larger company has helped us to keep our
costs as stable as possible in these changing times. Our employees, who
reside in many of the communities we service, have seen the benefits of
a larger company through payroll and benefit improvements. We have
continued to use local suppliers for supply and fuel purchases.
In January of 2001 G & B Disposal of LaSalle was also
purchased by The William Charles Waste Companies and was merged with
Dean’s. This extended the service coverage area to include LaSalle,
Putnam and Marshall counties.
In July of 2003 the City of Spring Valley was added to our group of
customers with the purchase of Abraham Disposal of Spring Valley.
In January of 2004 Illinois Valley Waste Services took over the
operation of the Princeton Transfer Station. The Transfer Station is
located on 101 Peggy Lane.

In October of 2004 Allen’s Disposal of Streator merged with Illinois
Valley Waste Services.
In 2005 a name change will occur.
All of the companies mentioned above will be encompassed by the name
Illinois Valley Waste Services. Very little will change as far as
our customers are concerned. We will still offer the same great services
at affordable prices, however, only now with a new name.
