Garbage and recycling service for the Village
of North Utica began January 1, 2005. Each household is allowed to leave
out up to three 32-gallon containers, not to exceed 40 pounds each.
Garbage and recycling should be placed at the curb on Monday by 6:00
a.m.
No oversize cans, barrels, or other makeshift
containers will be emptied. Additional 32-gallon cans or bags can be
removed with a garbage sticker applied. Garbage stickers are $1.00 each
and are available at the Village Hall and Mill Street Market. If an individual has a large
item, like a mattress or chair, they can call the Illinois Valley Waste
Services office at 866-875-2293 to find out how many tags to place on
that item to have it removed.
The city residents will receive a Spring Clean up for
household refuse and bulk items. Bulk items include such items as
mattresses, or furniture like chairs, tables or couches. Each household
may have one pile removed which is no larger than 4’ x 8’ x 3’.
Oversized loads may be removed after making
arrangements for payment with the Illinois Valley Waste Services office.
White goods (appliances such as water heaters, washers, dryers,
refrigerators) are included in the Spring clean up. They will be removed
by a scrap metal hauler.
Curbside recycling will be done on an every other week
basis on Monday’s. Each household will be supplied on 18 gallon
recycling bin. Additional bins are $10 each.
Yard waste will be collected every other week (along
with recycling) from April 1st to November 30th. Yard waste includes
leaves, grass clippings, branches, twigs and garden debris. Material
should be placed in biodegradable paper lawn waste bags or a regulation
garbage can with a $1.00 garbage sticker attached. Plastic bags are not
allowed for yard waste removal. Twigs and brush must be tied in bundles
not to exceed 5’ in length or 2’ in diameter with one $1.00 sticker
attached. Total weight should not exceed 40 pounds.
