Garbage and recycling service are provided
weekly for the residents of the City of Spring Valley. Each residence may leave out up to five 30-gallon bags
or cans per week. A bulk item may be left out for collection each week
also. Recycling containers should be left out on your garbage service
day. Stickers are available at City Hall for additional garbage cans or
bags. The stickers are $1.50 each. Yard waste is picked up on your
regular service day from April 1st through the end of November. Yard
waste should be placed in biodegradable Kraft paper bags with a $1.50
sticker applied. Stickers can be purchased at City Hall.
Bulk items include items like furniture, beds, chairs
or carpeting. Carpet should be cut into small rolls that one person can
lift easily. All items for removal should be placed at the curb by 6:00
a.m. on your regular service day. White goods such as refrigerators,
washers, dryers, water heater, tires, batteries, construction and
demolition materials will not be considered as bulk items.
Any owner of a three family residence or larger, as well as commercial
buildings with attached apartments must use dumpsters.
The City of Spring Valley provides a Spring Clean up
for residents. Each household is allowed one 4 x 8 x 3’ pile of garbage.
The following items will not be removed – yard waste, tires,
auto parts, batteries, hazardous waste, building materials, concrete,
bricks or blacktop.
