Garbage service will be provided weekly for the residents of the City of Oglesby. Each residence may leave out up to two 32-gallon bags or cans per week and one bulk item. Each container may not weigh over 40 pounds. Regulation 32-gallon garbage cans with lids or 32-gallon garbage bags are to be used. No oversize cans, barrels or other makeshift containers will be emptied.

     If you have more than two cans or bags you must purchase garbage stickers to place on your additional garbage. Tags may be purchased for $1.00 each from the following businesses – John’s Service and Sales, and Eureka Savings Bank or by mail from the Dean’s office.

Service days for Oglesby are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Recycling is done on an every other week schedule.

     Bulk items include items like furniture, beds, chairs or carpeting. Carpet should be cut into small rolls that one person can lift easily. All items for removal should be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your regular service day.

     Items not accepted at the landfill and that are not included in the bulk pickup include appliances such as water heaters, refrigerators, washers, dryers, tires, batteries, hazardous waste including chemicals, fertilizers, oils and wet paint. To have items such as dirt, bricks, remodeling or construction debris removed, contact our office about a roll off container.

                        

Recycling
Recycling service is provided every other week. Each residence will be provided with an 18-gallon plastic recycling container. Additional recycling bins can be purchased from the City at $10 each.

 

Yard waste
Yard waste will be removed from April 1st through November 30th. Yard waste should be placed out at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your regular service day. A $1.00 garbage sticker must be applied to every Kraft paper bag of yard waste left out for removal. Biodegradable Kraft paper bags or tied bundles of twigs may be disposed of, but plastic bags of yard waste will not be removed. Kraft paper bags may be purchased at local hardware, grocery or retail stores. The same stickers are used for yard waste and extra garbage. Twigs and brush should be tied in bundles not to exceed 5 feet in length or 2 feet in diameter and must have a $1 sticker attached.

 

Clean up days
The City of Oglesby will schedule one annual city wide clean up day where household refuse and bulk items will be collected. At this time white goods (appliances) and up to four automobile tires (no rims) will be included. Small amounts of lumber will be collected. However, demolition materials such as fences, sheds, shingles or remodeling debris will not be included in the clean up.
